The Me Man Jack Story
Me Man Jack has been a stable unit since 1998. Several articles in the local entertainment press, our television spot on C.K.W.S., and several successful gigs have bolstered our recent success. Tully - Mike Pearson - and Kevin Bowers share the song writing. Me Man Jack has a rootsy but contemporary sound which incorporates the blues / reggae / folk / funk / rock / improvisation and bluegrass. We share mutual love of evocative lyrics and moody roots and good old boogie woogie rock and roll. We create a unique mixture of melody, groove, poetry, mood, stories and humor that gets the crowd moving. Sometimes simple and sometimes challenging, we sing about topics as diverse as the Flying Monkeys in The Wizard of OZ, stealing tomatoes from the neighbors garden, the American invasion of Panama, being on the highway and hurtin' tunes about girls leavin' town. The tunes are rough, honest, sometimes pretty and other times raw. There is a wide range of influences in our sound from Muddy Waters to The Band, from Wilco to Bill Monroe, from The Rolling Stones to Dr. John, from The Rheostatics to Bob Dylan and Neil Young. We cover several traditional blues tunes, and we spice our set with contemporary songs. With Rene Vermette on harp, Huw Davis on bass and Pete Bowers on drums, Kevin Bowers on guitar and vocals, Tully on keyboards and vocals, the band thrives on live musical interplay. Me Man Jack has played at several local pubs including The Merchant, The Grad Club, The Scherzo, The Toucan, Brandies, Newburg Friday Night Music Series, The Epicure, and The Camden East Bookstore Cafe. Our first C.D. was released on December 13th 2002 at the Scherzo. Recording of a follow-up is underway. The working tracks sound promising. Consider Me Man Jack for your festival or establishment.
